Our Reception children follow the Early Years Curriculum, which includes the seven key areas of learning and development. The three prime areas are: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development; Communication and Language. The four specific areas are: Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; Expressive Arts and Design.
Phonics and Early Reading
We use 'Letter and Sounds' to teach phonics and early reading. Our organisation of reading books matches the teaching and learning sequence.
'Numberblocks' underpins our approach to teaching number, making links with other mathematical areas, eg - when the children learn the number five, they link this to time, money and shape etc.
